Mother Earth Awakens is Up !

Hello Friends,  Tuesday morning we, the DLP, hung our new show at 2nd Helpings, titled "Mother Earth Awakens".

It is a beautiful show too.  Nice variety of colors, styles, techniques.
We are hoping you get the chance to stop by 2nd Helpings on Williamson Road and peruse our hard work.  We all love to paint even though it can be hard work at times so we love getting feedback and meeting the art lovers of this beautiful valley.
The opening reception is Saturday, the 13th of April.  We are planning to have a slide show and a demo.

Is the economy getting a bit brighter?

Hi Friends,  Just wanted to let everyone know that Bonnie Mason sold the painting pictured above from our show hanging at "Cups" coffee shop in the Grandin Village, here in Roanoke, Va.  Bonnie was really excited to be on a roll, so to speak, because she has also sold 2 or 3 other paintings !!   We are all hoping this is a sign that the economy is actually getting better.  This show is hanging through the end of this month,  so go take a peek while you have a good cup of joe.!

“Mother Earth Awakens” Art Show will open April 1, 2013 at 2nd Helpings Gallery 1502 Williamson Road Northeast Roanoke, VA 24012. The art show will celebrate the joy of Spring in paintings by the “Double Line Painters of the Blue Ridge": Mary Anne Meador, Bonnie Mason, Judy Lochbrunner, Linda Schaar, Sue Furrow, and Midge Ovenshire.

The public is invited to a reception on Saturday, April 13 from 1 PM to 3 PM. The reception will also feature a short program, “Creating a Painting from Start to Finish” by Sue Furrow at 2 PM as well as a slide show of the art, events and activities of the Double Line Painters of the Blue Ridge.

The show will include works in oil, acrylic, watercolor and even mixed media. The community can follow the inspiration and creation of the show’s art work by logging on to the group’s blog:

The 2nd Helping Gallery hours are 10-3 Monday through Saturday. Additional information on the art show can be obtained by calling (540) 491-9405. The Double Line Painters of the Blue Ridge can be contacted at
And a reminder that we have a new show going up next week at 2nd Helping.  We hope you won't miss the reception!

Violins are ready to go

Hey Friends, A sequence of photos from start to finish.  Obviously the very beginning above.
Judy put the first coat of Kilz on both.
Judy has finished the back side of this one above.
Mary Anne has finished the front side of the same violin.
Lazy Sue took the easy parts - the chin rests.  The one on the right looks like dots but it's actually musical note symbols.
Linda finished the back side of this violin.  And now I forget if Bonnie or Midge is finishing up the front side!?
Either way maybe by the time it's finished, I'll have the official info about when the Roanoke Symphony will open its new doors.
Here in the SW mountains of Virginia it is a gorgeous day....Sunny,warm,blue sky !!! Delicious.......Hope your day is a wonderful as ours.  Happy weekend.

New Work hanging at "Cups"

Hello Friends,  Yesterday we hung art at "Cups Coffee Shop" in the Grandin Village.   The customers were really sweet and patient and did not mind moving to another seat so we could get to the hanging hooks.
Here is a shot of Michelle Bennett, the owner of Cups.  We thank her profusely for having our work gracing her walls for the month of March.
Judy sent this shot to me, hence the different color of the walls, etc.
Another view and one of the sweet coffee customers that moved for us.
So we hope you will find the time to visit Cups and order some coffee.  I had the house blend and I loved it, I like my coffee really robust and the blend was perfect.   I had a blueberry muffin too, very tasty.
