DLP's Visit Lynchburg

Hello Friends,  We , the women of Double Line Painters, took a little time off from painting and traveled to the rolling hills of Lynchburg !   First stop was the Lynchburg Arts Club home (above).  They have a wonderful place to hold all their activities and showcase the members work.  WE are having a show there in October this year.   You all are invited and will give more details later. !!
Above is a giant mosquito? in the River View Arts area.  I misplaced my information on this area so I'll have to relay this later.  But it's a grand area with a huge building to host shows and installations.
And here we are, deciding which direction to go next.   I should have shown you some of the rolling hills here.  It reminds you of San Francisco.
This Thursday, the 27th, we will be at 2nd Helpings, here in Roanoke, to do a run through on our up-coming class in July about collage.  Our first one day workshop was a big success so we are doing it again.  Hope you can join us this time.
Happy Trails.

Buy the Season

Hello Friends,  Two members of the Double Line Painters, Judy and Mary Anne, are trying out a new venue!  It's called "Buy the Season" and it is located on Apperson Drive, which used to be called Lee-Hi Way and it's close to Rt. 419 at Riverjack.  Very easy to find.  These photos I took about mid-day, 'cuz they were demonstrating some of their painting techniques for the public.
So go by soon to see their art work, I failed to ask how long they might be there.  They will be happy to create something awesome for your home too.

Sesasons in Salem II Reception

Hey Friends,  The new show opened last week at the Salem Museum on Main St. in Salem, Va.  The reception was held last night.  It appears we did not pick the best date for this because there were high school graduations going on and the weather was pretty yucky.
Gladly we had a small crowd to brave their way to the museum.  Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the new art work.  Many thanks to the museum and their wonderful staff.  They are always a treat to work with.
Hope some of our friends find the time to stop by.

Report on the One Day Show at Sedalia Center

Hello Friends,  Above is the only photo Judy took at the Sedalia Center yesterday......She, Mary Anne, and Linda were so busy painting and chatting with all the visitors, they had NO time for photos for our blog.!
So I'm reposting a few from last years event.  Judy, above and Linda, below were painting during the event.

And Mary Anne, above, was not painting, she was inside the art show with our art.  Promoting the Double Line Painters and the Artisan's trail (Mary Anne tried to explain this to me at the Roanoke show today but honestly I was preoccupied with other visitors and whether I should be packing and getting out of the storms way) so I will have to get more info from Mary Anne to pass along to you.   Mary Ann and Linda came DT Roanoke today gave rave reviews about the Sedalia Show.   I was on the fence about which to do, and could be on that fence again next year, BUT I don't think so.  Why would you do ALL that work of setting up that heavy tent, displays, etc etc, when you don't have to.  I know my age is throwing her two cents in here, but one day I must listen to her.

Update on Roanoke----A big weather event rolled through today about noon.   You never know how bad things will get or how fast.  I was talking with a nice young lady when it all started and she was upset 'cuz we were packing (the artists) so talking with her for just an extra 15 minutes, caused several paintings to get their back covers wet !!  Now I'll spend 2 days drying work and applying new covers and hanging all the display equipment and the tent top and panels out to dry.  You can't put that stuff away wet...MOLD!!
Anyway the organizers were disturbed 'cuz we were leaving but said they understood.  Right.
There was very little attendance Sat. and certainly none to speak of today!!  I'm really disappointed if you can't tell.  We have so few art venues in this area, so when Mother Nature shows up just to spoil your day, I can't help but be disappointed.
OK - Rant is over.  I'm to tired to fuss any more.  Hope all of our friends had a wonderful weekend and can make it to our reception next Friday at the Salem Museum.  I'll post details this week.

Report on the Taubman Museum's Sidewalk Art Show

Hello Friends,  Just a quick report on the only big art show in Roanoke, Va.   Happens the weekend after Memorial day , usually June 1 & 2.   Above is Midge Ovenshire and her husband, Dave.  Midge paints and Dave makes fab pottery.  This year they were across from me !!  Nice to have a friend close by.
Here is Bonnie, a traditional painter, and her Hubby, Randy.  They are sportin' an all new tent and display stuff !!  They were located all the way across the event from Me and Midge.  (Me and Midge....sounds like mice in a child's story book....) Anyway, I ran over there to get this photo and a delicious SNO-CONE.
Here is my booth across street from Midge.  Traffic really off today and I hear there are several other events going on, such as a big ball game, a concert, and a "race for space".   So Hope everyone gets rested and comes to the art show on Sunday.
And here we have the Judge of art prizes and her assistant making the rounds early before the heat hit.  Her assistant on the right had to ask the booth owners to lift her up to put the little dots on their name tags after judging !!  Ha - what a HOOT.
Hoping to be able to give you a report on the Sedalia Event tomorrow !  Hope it was great-great!
