What's new - What's next?

Hello Friends,  Sorry to be so long between posts.  I've had a lot of issues with this 'puter and now have the new Windows 8 and new mouse.  It has taken a while to figure my way around just the places I need to use such as this blog.  Some new features make NO sense, but that's called Progress!
We artists went to a local park, Wasena, along the Roanoke River and the new greenway, to do some paint slinging.  It is basically getting a start or spark on canvas or paper so you're not starring at a white canvas.  Top photo, Judy is holding a bucket of instruments or tools to make marks.  The photo above is just a shot to convey the space we were working in.  We spread out drop cloths so we don't leave the grass too colorful.  It is FUN.
Here Linda is playing with a pad of canvas textured paper.  A lot of Blue there on the right.
  •  These canvas' have lavenders and yellows splashed and dripped .
Mary Anne was in the mood to paint her surroundings instead of throwing paint.  This is another beautiful spot in the SW Virginia Mountains.  It's so easy to find inspiration here.
A peek at our latest postcard promoting two of our biggest shows coming up in October.  The way time is flying past me, means these shows will be here in a couple of days !!  Our summer is almost gone and most of us are too wimpy for Plein-Aire painting in the winter.  But you can be sure we will be working like little Santa elves in our studios.
I will post more reminders of these upcoming exhibits before October.

We should be getting postcards for the "Lynchburg Art Fest" at EC Glass High School this week, so I will post that as soon as I get them so you can find your way to one of our MOST favorite festivals.

WVTF Show and Clutch Magazine

Hello Friends,  I finally got my new computer and this is my 1st blog post with it.  Good so far !!  Above is a shot of Linda's art showing at the public radio station, WVTF, here in Roanoke, Va.  They are located  at 3520 Kingsbury Lane, just off Franklin Rd.  This show hangs through October and they are open M-F, 9-5.
The reception is August 16th from 5 to 7pm.  Hope you get to see it.
And we, DLP's, are featured in the magazine called CLUTCH  I made this photo as large as blogger would allow hoping you can read it. We found our mag in Bedford at the Goose Creek Gallery but I'm told they can be found in local business' in the Grandin Rd. section of Roanoke.  It also list our upcoming shows in Bedford and Lynchburg.  It's a handsome publication and we are very apprecative of this article.  Thanks Clutch !!

We will be painting, plein-aire, this Thursday morning at the Harmony Equestrian Center in Botetourt so come by say hello and enjoy this beautiful  place.

Photos from the Collage Workshop

Hello Friends, A little late with these photos but it has been a busy week for all .  Our workshop at 2nd Helpings Gallery in Roanoke, Va. was a big success.  Above picking out some of the painted papers.
I can't get my computer to co operate with me (I've tried this blog post for the third time) so I'm just gonna roll with what it wants to do.  The two bottom photos show a couple students work in progress.  They were really handsome when they finished.  The flow of the different stages of development was better with this second workshop, so I would say we are getting the hang of this.  All the participants were happy, that's the important thing.  So subscribe to our blog to stay informed of the next workshop.
