the Fabulous Blue Ridge Parkway

Hello Friends,  A few photos from our short trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We started out at the Explore Park and you will have to look at their maps 'cuz I can't remember the MM.  It's very close to Roanoke, Va.
First stop was at the Roanoke River Overlook.  At the actual overlook, there was nothing to see except the tree foliage and the STEEP path down to the river.  I can't stand looking down over the bridge to give you some perspective so thought maybe the photo at top of the girls on the bridge would work.  It's a massive bridge and several thousand feet from the floor !!
Here is a shot of the local wildlife at the Great Valley Overlook.  If you are quiet you can get much closer.
Hope you can read this sign.
And a little peek around the sign to see the Buena Vista.
We are all very busy at the moment, getting paintings finished up/dry, documented and ready to hang at a couple local shows.  I will post more info soon about the Roanoke Sidewalk Art Show sponsored by the Taubman Museum.   And the Sedalia Art Center in Bedford, Va.  Both on the same weekend, which is a real crik in the neck, 'cuz I'd love to do both !

Art on the Porch

Hello Friends,  We had a grand day at Ikenberry's yesterday.  It was just a tad chilly, especially if you sat in their comfy rocking chairs too long.  What a wonderful place to sit and chat with your friends!
Above is Judy with any eye-catching display of the beautiful violin that will be up for auction with the monies supporting the Roanoke Symphony.
We have plans to do this art show at Ikenberry's a couple more times this year and plans are to support our local FFA (Future Farmers of America)  Judy is our sign maker and she does a bang up job.
We are really hoping this show catches on and people will love our art enough to support us and our efforts to support the FFA.   Our farmers need all the help we can give and our encouragement.
Ikenberry's grows a lot of beautiful flowers and vegetables and herbs.  Look at that basket above.!
Here is a shot just inside the door of one greenhouse.  There are too many beauties to list here.   We have plans to show again in July and October.  So spread the word and forward this message to all the farmers and art lovers and fruit lovers you can think of.    Have a wonderful Sunday.

Sedalia Center and Roanoke Sidewalk Art Show

Hello Friends,  Two events will be here before we know it.  The Sedalia Center in Bedford, Va. will be hosting the second year of the Artisan Fair.   A couple members of the DLP will be showing there this year.  And you never know, we may all be there next year.  We are really hoping this event grows.

The Taubman Museum of Art is hosting the 55th Sidewalk Art show on the streets of the market district in downtown Roanoke, Va.  at the same time as the Sedalia Center fair.  This is a 2 day event.

We hope you can come out for both events and look us up.  We are exhibiting individually, not as a group, so look for our names (over there on the right side).

Today we will be showing and possibly painting as a group at the http://www.ikenberryorchards.com/index.php store on Rt. 220 in the Botetote area.
