Douthat Continued and Centerfest in Bedford on Sat.27th, 2014

Hello Friends,  As promised, I'm posting more photos from Douthat State Park.  Comcast is behaving right at this moment.  Above is Bonnie on a path around the lake.  There is a path for the majority of the lake.  Looks pretty overcast, doesn't it?

Above is one of my many paintings.  Plein-Aire can be over whelming.  So much is in front of you.  I need to invent a Hat/Mask combination, so that when I look up all I see is the scene I'm painting.
Kind of like a cone on a dog.  Think any artists would be interested in that?

Above is Mary Anne working on a small canvas.  She always seems to be SO focused, I don't think she would need a cone.

Above is Linda.  She is making great strides with her plein air work.  We are both have a struggle with acrylics and plein air.  They darken so much when dry and it's impossible to adjust while you are out there in the sun.

Above is Judy.  She seems to have no problem with acrylics.  She hasn't had much to say about this problem and her paintings always look great.  She has been plein airing longer than me so maybe that's what I need.  Patience !!
Now about Centerfest.  This small little festival is held in DT Bedford.  Click Here for their webpage.
We, the Double Line Painters, will be set up under a tent in the parking lot of Goose Creek Gallery.
We all hope you will stop by and visit for a spell.  It will be fun
Happy Trails.

Plein Air Painting at Douthat State Park

Hello Friends,  I'm having issues with the slow SLOW internet service from Comcast today so I'm making this post short.  Tomorrow I will show you more photos of the work created.
The photo above is the little dam that holds back the lake waters.
We were told they drain this lake every January in anticipation of the flood from snow melt and spring rains.  It's an ODD sight we were told.

The end of our first day.  Waiting for the sunset with cameras.  We were not disappointed.  The sun and clouds made a peaceful, soft exit.
We felt so blessed to be in that moment and place.
Poor Judy arrived the next day.  She had to make do with sunsets at the Grand Canyon.

It Was Great !

Just a wee bit late friends.  I had shows to do and all that packing. Sorry.
Above is Bonnie with her latest ribbon.  Her husband will need to build an extra room soon for her ribbons.  This was at the "Bedford Barns Exhibit at the Bower Center in Bedford Friday night.
It was raining a LOT so the crowd was down.
Congratulations to Bonnie.

Which leads to the 42nd Lynchburg Art Festival being postponed from Sat. to Sunday.  The Rain.
It was still a great show even if the crowd was down.
That's me above working on the sunburn.

This is Linda above.  She sold a bunch of stuff and you can tell she's happy.

Above is Mary Anne and she is extra happy.  She really sold.

Above is Bonnie.  Besides winning ribbons at the Bedford exhibit, she sold quite a few things.
So everyone is happy and in case you are wondering,  Judy is missing but very Happy 'cuz she is at the Grand Canyon enjoying the views.  Lucky Lady.
So now we are all packing again to go on a short retreat in the wilderness of the Appalachian Mountains close to West Virginia.  We get to paint and paint for 3 days.!
Are we the happiest plein aire painters ever?
