Plein Aire Extraordinare

Hello Dear Friends,  Above is the beautiful valley behind the "Homeplace" Restaurant in Catawba, Virginia along Rt. 311 if you were going North, headed to Paint Bank.

This is Linda, all hunkered down beside the car to avoid the wind.  She was smart, using just watercolor crayons called Inktense.  The autumn colors are very ugly this year so even inktense won't help with that.

And this is me, able to finally stand after bungy-ing easel to car.  The wind blew it over twice.  I still only made two starts.  Just to much wind to deal with.
Maybe you noticed only the two of us were crazy enough to even try.  Enjoyed it anyway and maybe learned  a few tidbits for next time. (like stay home!)

Ikenberry Fall Porch Show

Hello Friends,  The last show of this season was yesterday on the big, comfy porch of Ikenberry's retail store on Rt. 220 in Botetourt.
Above the FFA boys stayed busy all day, stirring apple butter.

Here we are behind the FFA apple butter stand on the porch.  We saw lots of jars go by.  These young ladies took turns with the guys, stirring the new batches.  It was hard work and some took cat naps in the big comfy rocking chairs.
It seems we DLP's take turns when it comes to sales.  Yesterday was my day.  Last time on the porch, 2 weeks ago, it was Mary Anne's day.  So Judy will be able to send off a little donation to the FFA soon.  You know we have to help our farmers and encourage the next generation to take up farming.  Without them, would we have any decent food to eat?
