Have a Happy and Safe Memorial Day Holiday

The Double Line Painters of the Blue Ridge wish you a happy and safe Memorial Day Holiday.
We also want to thank all those who have served or continue to serve our country in the military.

You may have seen the violin that we have featured on previous blogs but not have noticed the back.  This is inspired by the Salem Red Sox who invite local youth sports teams to join them on the field for the National Anthem.   So it only seems fitting to post this for this Memorial Day.

Enjoy and be safe.

Plein Air Painting in Botetourt at the Pleasant Grove Farm

Hello Friends,  Two of the DLP members were plein air painting today in Botetourt.  Mrs. Whitney Feldmann and her husband opened their beautiful property for us to paint.
Above Mrs. Feldmann was kind enough to hang laundry on her lines just for me to take photos !
She is so thoughtful (she had all sorts of cold drinks and delicious fruit salad & more).

Here is a shot of the entrance with 2 ladies painting a view of the 1830's house.  And the house was outstanding.

Here is a shot of a field w/ a barn directly across from the house.  This was a small portion of their cows.  They also have horses but they were not close enough to photograph.
This is Linda painting the barn and field pictured above.  Doesn't that look inviting?  Nice and shady with a pleasant breeze.

And here is Sue.  You can't see it in the photo but the little driveway goes on back into the woods and there are iris on the right and peonies on the left.  I'm thinking now this will be my favorite.
We will donate a painting to be auctioned in Sept. by the .  Just check their website for details.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Creative Morning at Va.Western Community College Arboretum

Hello Friends,  Yesterday was a beauty.  Did you get out in natures springtime beauty?  We, the DLP's, did.  And it was fabulous.  We were at the local community college's arboretum.
This really is a beautiful, well maintained sight.

Top photo, I managed to get 3 of our members in one shot ! Close is Judy, far is Bonnie and mid-ground is Mary Anne.  Kinda like if you were planning your painting.
And this photo is Linda.
Another shot hoping you can see the bark on these trees.  Look at those beautiful shadows.

One more shot of somebody and more of the arboretum.
A reminder to go to the Sedalia Center's Artisan Affair on May 30, 2015.
CLICK HERE for their website and more info.
The DLP members Judy, Linda, and Mary Anne will be exhibiting then.
Enjoy this glorious spring

150 Paintings in 150 Days - The Challenge was Officially Kicked Off on Mothers Day

Hello Friends,  Hope all the ladies had a great Mothers Day.  We certainly did.
We went to the gorgeous mountains of Eagle Rock, Va. yesterday.  To the Blue Ridge Vineyard to officially start our challenge of making 150 paintings in 150 days.

We all chose our spots and enjoyed painting with the live music in the background by Mike Frank.

Art by the DLP of the BR
Mary Anne
"Car Artist" is what Judy called Mary Anne.  It is fun and convenient to paint from the trunk of your car.

Sue and Linda
Some people just like shade.  And there was a pleasant breeze most of the time.
I LOVE this place.
The Vineyard has a lot of activities schedule all summer.  Go to their Facebook page to follow along.
Next Thursday, the 14th of May, we will be painting at Va. Western Comm. College's Arboretum on Colonial Ave.  Stop by to say HI or watch more of the 150 paintings being created.
Til then "Happy Trails"

Top Photo Mary Anne with her pastels.  Way, Way in the background is Linda.  She packed up before I could get a photo.

Here's Bonnie.  She was in a hurry also but got most of her scene finished.  And the photo of it was BAD.

And here is " MOI".  Mary Anne came over and took a few shots..

And Here is Judy-Looking like a real Plein Air Painter with the hat & easel.
We want to remind and invite you to come out Sunday to the Blue Ridge Vineyard in the Eagle Rock area for their Mother's Day celebration.  Click up there and it will take you to their FaceBook page.  And the directions are there.  And scroll down a bit and you will see Judy painting!  We are kicking off the 150 paintings in 150 days challenge.  Please come out for a beautiful experience in a beautiful area of Virginia.
And don't forget the workshop planned for June 27th at the Evergreen Lavender Farm.
Appomattox is much closer than you think and it is really beautiful that time of year.
Lots to do this year!
