Hello Friends,  Look up there, Have you ever seen a more beautiful sight?  Makes one think they just climbed the stairs to heaven.

We are the luckiest (and hardest working) artists ever !  We have found some of the prettiest spots on this entire earth, to paint in.  I really don't think most people appreciate what they have here in Virginia.

We were in no hurry this morning because there was the possibility of showers.  But it held off just for us.

At this beautiful Inn, you could paint in any direction you wanted, it was all gorgeous.  Can't wait to go back this spring or maybe even when it snows.  Check out their website at  Would be a great get away for you and the missus or mr.
Jeanne and John are the inn keepers and you won't meet a nicer pair.  Of course the rooms are beautiful as you can tell from their website.

We hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the autumn colors before the winds sweep them all away.

Hello Friends,  A tad late in getting this post out.  We went out Thursday, looking for some color to paint with.  We could be called Leaf Peepers too, I guess.

We didn't find much in this area of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  I have been hearing the colors will not be much this year.  The weather conditions have not been right.  Every maple I see is bright and colorful, so if we could find an area with a lot of maples we might be able to catch some autumn colors.

Of course, when you go to Paint Bank you have to stop at the only restaurant for miles.  And yes they serve Buffalo burgers and such.  Their shop is very interesting and it's a great drive from Roanoke.

This coming Thursday we are going to the Narrows area again.  To the Riverbend Inn to paint.
It looks like a fabulous place to paint and play and stay.  The inn keepers are Jeanne and John.  Tell them the Double Line Painters sent you.

Hello Friends,  On Thursday, yesterday, three of the Double Line Painters went to Explore Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway here in SW Virginia to catch the Autumn colors.

As you can see, there wasn't much color.  We had to use the license we were given as children.

Judy's blue wagon was pretty colorful.

Her painting is getting pretty colorful so obviously she is using her license.

I was told that this is an OFF season for Autumn colors.  The conditions have not been favorable for the production of good color.  Don't know if that is true but it sorta looks that way.

We did see individual trees of Oak and maybe Sumac and one Maple that had good color.  So hoping it's just a bit early.

Hope you can get out there and enjoy a hike through the colors.

Thanks for stopping in.

Hello Friends,  TAA-DAA....This is the beautiful view most of the painters had today.  Believe it or not, some handsome paintings were created with this view.

A few hours later and it's clearing up a bit.  Linda intent on finishing this one.

Mary Anne and Judy are happy with their creations.

Sue is happy with this first one even though she looks half asleep.

This shot is of Suzanne and Michael.  Look at that dense air/moisture/cloud/fog?

This is a shot of the Grand Gazebo and it's grand fireplace.!  It really put out the heat but it was perfect for the painters in this shelter.  Starting at the left is Margaret Sue, Karen, Michael came over to warm his tush, and then Mary.

The staff at South Peak put on a nice reception for the artists and the public that showed up inspite of the weather.  We all had fun and most of us are returning tomorrow to finish up paintings.
The sun is supposed to show it's face so come UP and cheer us on.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Dear Friends,  We made it to Bedford this evening.  To the Goose Creek Gallery to see the DLP "ELEMENTS" Show after it was rearranged a bit by the owners Patrick and Mitchell.

They did a really great job with the flow of the pieces.  Easy on the eyes.

This exhibit will be hanging for a few more weeks.  You still have some time to go SEE.

And of course we still hope you will make it out to South Peak tomorrow.  We will be there painting along with about 15 other painters.  If the rain stays away, we will have a good time.
CLICK HERE for directions and such on their Face Book Page.

See you tomorrow.

Hello Friends,  A short post with a lot of photos of a beautiful place, right here in the Roanoke Valley of SW Virginia.  Above is just ONE frame of the fabulous views from South Peak, right off Rt.220 and across 419 from Tanglewood.  You can't miss it.

And here is Bonnie Hooper with our Linda Schaar.  Bonnie is the mastermind and organizer of this event.  Thank You very much Bonnie.  Officially Bonnie is the Sales administrator of South Peak.

Here is Mary Anne capturing one view of many, shown below.

This work is much prettier than this photo lets on.  It is pastel and Mary Anne is a master with pastels.

Here is Linda and I'm afraid you will have to come out Saturday to see her work.

And here is Sue, starting her first really small painting.  Her second was bigger and hit the ground.  Not too badly, when it's dry, it will dust right off.
And Judy got a big jump start on me and was finished and packed up before I got a photo.  You would think I'd learn by now.  And our Bonnie wasn't feeling very well.  She is catching her husband's cold and did not paint today.  Don't look for her on Saturday either.

Saturday the 10th,  is the official "Paint Out" from 9 to 4pm.  And the wet paint sale is from 5 to 6pm.
We, the DLP's plan to be there about 12 to 1.  The weather reports indicate there will be some rain Sat. morning so hopefully this will clear out by the time we show up.  And we are planning to be there through the wet paint sale.

We hope you will come out to cheer us on and see the beautiful vista for yourself.  And to make the experience complete, take a new painting home with you.!

Hello Friends,  I'm sure most of you know there is serious weather going on now, here in Virginia and along the entire East coast.

We were supposed to paint and photograph the beautiful views at SOUTH PEAK in Roanoke, Va. but gave it up.  We will be there next week and I'll have a more informative report.

In the meantime, check out their website HERE.
