HAPPY NEW YEAR and GOOD BYE 2016

Hello Friends,  Would you like to be on the grounds of the picture above?
I think it would be a great place to 'Ring in the New Year' for most.

But since we enjoy the beauty from my own back yard, I think we would choose this view of the Milky Way.

Could be because we are artists and we enjoy nature.
We hope to see more of you out there enjoying nature this coming year.
It would be a great place to stretch your wings and fling your paint!!

Happy New Year

OUR FAVORITES FROM 2016

Hello Friends,  Last post about 2016 favorites !   Sue Furrow was torn between the exhibit at the Arts Depot in Abingdon and the exhibits we have at the GOOSE CREEK GALLERY that change every 2 months.

The show in Abingdon was a real treasure but it is hard to bet the ongoing support of Patrick and Mitchell at Goose Creek in Bedford, Va.

We thank them all and encourage you to visit these fine establishments during our NEW 2017, that will show it's face in just a few more days.

Thank you for your support and for keeping up with our passions.

Bonnie Mason says, "My favorite art show memory is when I looked up and saw my DLP friends walking in the door at 2nd Helpings for the reception of my solo show last summer. It really means a lot when your friends show up for a reception!"

And if you are an artist, you know what it means.  You are going to be glad if you visit Bonnie's website HERE.

FAVORITE SHOW - EXHIBIT MEMORIES IN 2016

Hello Friends,  Reminiscing about the year that just flew past us will be the subject of the next few posts.  Studying the year of 2016 may be a good thing to do for business and for the individual calenders.  We can make plans based on what happened in the past year.

Judy Lochbrunner's favorite memory is (in her own words) :

I think it has to be hanging the show at the Arts Depot in Abingdon.  It was a big show in a new location that was 130 miles from Roanoke.  Because of the distance extra planning and back-up plans were needed.  But the best news is that it all came together beautifully

We all enjoyed the reception and the wonderful little Big town of Abinddon.

Hope to repeat soon.

Enjoy your 2016.

TIDBITS FROM MEMBERS OF THE DOUBLELINE PAINTERS

Hello Friends,  The last member is Sue Furrow and this is one of her favorite paintings.
Sue is growing and stretching in a different direction with her work and this painting reflects that stretch.  A simplified, more abstract approach to landscapes.  If you click on the image you will get a larger version and may be able to see some of the "BROKEN WORDS".

You can visit Sue's website HERE.

Next up is a favorite show/exhibit from everyone.

Another day or so and it will be cold again, something may even come down as wintery percip.

Enjoy your December.

Hello Dear Friends,  Time for another tidbit about Judy.  (BTW-I'm posting these in the order received)
Judy's favorite painting is titled "Main-ly A Meadow #2".  Pretty catchy, heh?
Inspired by a wonderful walk we took last September at Acadia National Park in Maine.
Perfect weather and a trail that surprised us with it's beauty at every turn.

She certainly captured the beauty of that park !

And Judy has a beautiful new website that you can visit HERE!!

Please stay tuned, much more to come.

We hope you are enjoying your holidays.

TIDBITS FROM MEMBERS OF THE DOUBLE LINE PAINTERS

Hello Dear Friends,  This is a tidbit about Bonnie.  Also in her own words :

My favorite painting is the one I'm working on right now of course! But I'm pretty happy with the one I just finished, too. Its called "The Neighbor's Barn". The light was so beautiful that day and this one just seemed to paint itself. I was happy with the sense of light and distance I was able to express.

That is a gorgeous painting up there !  What a sense of light !!  Everything Bonnie paints is gorgeous.

Hope you are enjoying our little TIDBITS.

TIDBITS FROM EACH MEMBER OF THE DOUBLE LINE PAINTERS

Hello Dear Friends,  This tidbit is from Linda Schaar.  Linda is a fantastic plein aire painter but this piece was painted in her studio and here is why in her own words.

"In July of this summer, we ventured to the Blacksburg area and visited VT and the Haun Horticultural Garden and a few more areas.   This was a photo gathering trip.  I painted the Koi from a photo taken at the Haun HG.

So this is what the "TIDBITS" are all about !
You will hear from all of us during the Holidays.

We sincerely hope all your plans and shopping are going smoothly.
This time of the year can be stressful, breath deeply, often.

THE GOOD LIFE

Hello Friends,  Making this post just a bit early so you may have a chance to read it.  We know it's going to be pretty busy Thursday.!

We want everyone to know how very grateful we are to live in this country with all it's freedoms.  We can choose to be artists, or cartoonists, or chefs, or shoe salesmen, or trash men.

We, the Double Line Painters, are very grateful to be plein air artists (among other things) and to have met so many other wonderful artists and gallerists and collectors.

The photo above was taken at SINKLAND and in our minds says everything that we should love about our lives, with the exception of our families.

Good Friends, Great Scenery, Good Food, Good Health, Great Year coming up in a hurry !

Have a Happy, Peaceful Thanksgiving

Judy, Sue, Bonnie, Mary Anne, and Linda

NEW SHOW HANGING AT THE SALEM MUSEUM THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR

Salem Museum Inside and Out!
Today we hung a holiday show at the Salem Museum (  link
http://salemmuseum.org
).  This
space is one of our favorites as it is light and bright overlooking a historic cemetery and town
park

Admission to the museum is free and makes a great place to take guests (friends and family)
who come to visit.   We hope you have an opportunity to enjoy this museum and our show
which will be up until the second week of January.
After hanging the art (and posing for a photo), we headed outside to paint.  It was a beautiful
warm fall day.  And the colors of autumn were still stunning.

Linda chose a spot up on the top of the hill and she is surrounded by beautiful deep golden
leaves.

Mary Anne chose is spot further down the path and is framed by the best red color of the
season.

We hope this is not the end of the plein air season yet..........check back to see if we are back
painting outside in the next few weeks.

And enjoy your fall days too.

FANTASTIC DAY IN LYNCHBURG'S CITY CEMETARY

Hello Friends, Yep, We beat the bad weather by going to Lynchburg yesterday.  I had to take this shot of the beautiful, soft clouds that floated by all day at the CITY CEMETERY.

And I must admit I was slack with my job as the DLP blogger.  I usually take way too many photos but this is a large place and my knee does not care for the hilly terrain.  And, you guessed it, every one spread out and I could not find them.
Judy above is packing up to move to another view.

This Linda and she is a bit like me.  She has to watch the hills too.  So she wasn't too far away.  And she had several folks stop to inquire about her painting.

Judy took this shot of us about to chow down on the cemetery's golf cart.

And Judy took this shot of me, the blogging queen, sitting on the job.  I managed to finish 3 paintings and we ALL had a great day.  So glad we were able to out run the rainy weather we have today, here in the beautiful mountains of SW Virginia.

Thank you for visiting our blog today.

And visit our FACEBOOK page for some important dates.
