Hello Friends,  A post about the good time we had at Lynchburg's first PAINT OUT.
The City Cemetery is a big and beautiful place.  About 50 artists were scattered all over the place and I saw most of them except our mate LINDA.

I did see Judy several times (on potty trips) so I got a photo of her and a shot of my last painting, at the top.

So I had to settle for a group shot of the paintings.  The biggest one of the church is Linda's and she says it is unfinished.

Everyone had a grand time and I enjoyed seeing Rosilee Short and David Eakin.

We are hoping this becomes an annual event and "Thanks" to all at the Lynchburg Art Club for making it happen.  Plein Air has taken the country by storm.

Hello Friends,  We all went to Bonnie's church this morning and arranged and rearranged and rearranged some more.  Finally the show for the Arts Depot in Abingdon came together.  And very nicely, I might add.
But we didn't get much help from the helper Mary Anne brought, as you can see above..

These two photos I have dubbed "The Abingdon Shuffle".

You see all those paintings on both sides of the hall !?  They all fit into one car and the space behind the driver in a truck !!  WE are the packing Queens.

And Lookee Here !  The helper is helping.  And he could care less about art so you know he is a good guy.  He was patient and never whined.

Hope he acts that good for the reception, which I hope you haven't forgotten.
It is May 5th, 2016 from 5pm til 8pm at the ARTS DEPOT in Abingdon, Va.

We do hope to see you and your friends.  We will have a great time chatting and enjoying the          hor d'orves.

Hello Friends,  Yesterday we spent the day in Lynchburg, at their City Cemetery.
Next weekend is the official PAINT OUT with about 60 artists registered !

We spent the first part of the day walking and photographing all the beauty.
Linda and Judy found an unusual shrub.

Everywhere you look is a painting waiting for us to put it on canvas.

At the top is a special garden for all the Civil Wars victims.  A lot of the little markers had names and dates on them.  Some pretty young fellas.  Sad.

And they even have BEE'S.  Some volunteers take care of the hives and the cemetery sells the honey to use for upkeep, along with rooted cuttings of their collection of vintage roses.

Linda found refuge in the shade of  a conifer (some kind of pine) to work on her practise piece.  I was right behind her painting the white azaleas.

The link above is a good place to start research.  If you Google Old City Cemetery you will find more links.

Go to this link for more info about the Paint out !

Hope our paths cross at the City Cemetery !

Hello Friends,  Hope all our artist friends were able to get outside today and use their plein air equipment.  Mary Anne is casting a defined shadow up there.  That would make a great painting in my opinion.

Linda is so little she's not making a shadow, just some tree branches.  and she got a beautiful piece started.

And Sue is in the freezing shade.  But she blocked in 2 starts.

And to finish, they raced down the hill.  Did not get to see either painting.  Maybe they will put them on their blogs.  They are in the side bar so click on them.

Thank you for stopping in.

Dear Friends, This report just in !

Set your GPS for an alternate route (back street) to the All Critters Great and Small Reception from 1-3 PM on  Saturday at 2nd Helpings.  And look for detours around the intersection of Williamson and Orange Avenue as there will certainly be some at this busy intersection.  We don’t want you to miss our reception!

The Western Virginia Water Authority will be working around the clock this weekend at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road. Work will begin at 7:00 PM Friday April 8th and is expected to continue throughout the weekend, ending no later than 6:00 AM on Monday morning, April 11. During this time, all westbound through lanes of Orange Ave approaching Williamson and the northbound lanes of Williamson, north of Orange will be closed.

This will affect travel to 2nd Helpings this weekend so please look for and use alternate routes!

See you at the reception!
